Description

Chrysalis
It was a warm August afternoon, and the sky was beginning to show streaks of red, warning the city of Daphlin that night was on its way. This however, did not sway the beachgoers. Couple still held hands, children still played in the sand, and surfers still paddled their way into the blue. On a bench, drinking in the beauty and serenity of the moment, sat Maria. During the summer Maria worked part time at the local library until four in the afternoon every day except weekends. After every shift she would walk home along the beach with her books, but she had never stopped to sit before. Carefully she had dusted off the bench placed her books in the middle, smoothed her skirt and sat down. Automatically she felt paranoid and snatched her books up to place on her lap. Finally relaxed she sat up straight in her pinstripe suit and began to watch the waves continually rise and crash into the sand transforming into foam. A soft wind played with her long locks of brown hair.

"Beautiful, isn't it?"

Maria jumped and turned to see the figure of a handsome man with the dying light of the sun shining upon his golden hair. He looked at her and smiled, "Hello."

She melted at the sound of his Australian accent.

"Hello." She replied sweetly. Maria looked away quickly when she noticed he was only wearing swimming trunks showing off his many muscles.

The man rested his arms across the back of the bench and leaned in a relaxed position, his fingers almost touching her hair. High breathed in the fresh air long and deep.
"I've only been here for a month and I can't get enough of this sight. Every day I jog up and down the beach, but I'm always worried one day I'll arrive and find I've gotten tired of it." He looked at her, "Has that ever happened to you?"

"With some things yes, but not with the beach. I've lived in this area all my life and it always seems to surprise me. I don't think I've ever fully stopped and appreciated it."

"I don't think anyone really understands how much they have until it's gone. I'm Cameron by the way, Cameron Harris."

"I'm Maria Dacey."

He raised a pierced eyebrow, "The Maria Dacey? I've heard a lot about you."

"You have? What?"

Cameron smirked, "Things. Not bad things, I assure you."

Maria glared at him, but a smile came none the less.

Cameron smiled back for an instant then collected himself, but she still caught a glimpse of his pearly white teeth. "So, Maria, what fate brought you here today?"

Her eyebrows raised, "Fate? I simply was walking home from work and decided to sit down."

"So that's it? You just decided to sit down, nothing more than that? Do you not believe that everything happens for a reason?"

"Well, sure I do but - "

"But nothing, " He inched closer and looked directly into her eyes, "You hide so much behind your stereotype and use so much of yourself for others leaving nothing but a shell in its stead." Slowly, he reached up and took off her glasses. In shock, Maria did not object. "I know there is a fire in there somewhere," Cameron leaned in beside her ear, "And I know I can kindle it." In an instant Cameron slid Maria's glasses back on and leapt up to his feet. "Nine O'clock, The Neon, be there." With a smirk and a nod goodbye, Cameron jogged off into the sunset leaving Maria almost in a comatose state on the bench. Without thinking, Maria picked up her books and slowly walked the rest of the way home on wobbly legs.

It wasn't she slammed the door of her apartment closed did her legs give out from beneath her. Confused at the loud noise, her trusted pet beaver, Lynn, waddled to the door to see her master slumped against the door with books scattered across the floor. Quickly, Lynn nuzzled against Maria's hand. She stirred.

"Oh, hey there Lynn." Maria said smiling weakly. She looked around and began picking up the books and stacked them on her kitchen table. As if in a daze, Maria walked to her bedroom, picked up a pillow and threw it hard at the wall.

'"You're hiding," he said, "You're an empty shell," he had said. Well who's he to judge me?' Furiously she three pillow after pillow at the wall. 'We only talked for a few seconds and he believes he knows me so well? What is he, a psychiatrist? A profiler? He doesn't know me! He can't know me! That pompous jerk with his sandy blonde hair, piercing blue eyes... sparkling... and, and, gleaming --

No! Maria, what on Earth are you thinking!?

He... wasn't all bad.. was he?

Of course he was! Him and his all-knowing smirk, plus he did nothing but insult you!

Not true, he said he saw a fire within me. No one's ever said anything like that to me before... and what he said weren't insults at all, they were honest truths, I'm just too afraid to admit it, proving what he says is correct.

If this is true, what does it mean? Will you do as he bids and go to that night club, The Neon, with him? What if he isn't there when you arrive? What if it was a joke on a poor lovely --

No, I don't believe it. I may have only known him for ten minutes at most, but somehow I trust him. I can't explain it, it's sort of a gut feeling.

Then go, prove his theories wrong, be who you are and always wanted to be. Be Maria Dacey, a CEO's daughter.

Uplifted and motivated, Maria sprang off her bed and headed to her closet to find something suitable to wear on what she prayed was a date.

Every year her father hosted a huge ball and that was the only time of the year Maria ever dressed up. In the past years she hadn't grown much and still fit in many of her old dresses so she flipped through them one by one until she came upon a poppy red cocktail dress that she had worn four years ago when she had been eighteen. She nodded an approving glance and hurried to get ready. There was only three more hours to nine.

The Neon was a fairly new club, it had only been open since June that summer. Before, Daphlin had never provided a nightclub so it was very well received by a large demographic of the town. Known for its bright colors and hot new music, it was the busiest and best place to be, and Maria had never been there. She was never prone to loud music or drunk strangers, she would rather sit at home and read.
But tonight was different. After a bit more struggling of if she should go or not, she hopped into a cab and was whisked away into the unfamiliar.

She had decided to go with the theme red and had included red high heel shoes, earrings, and lipstick to go with her dress. Maria had also put away her glasses and had put in contacts to show off her large green eyes. She almost felt like a different person and felt a smile of contentment creepy upon her face.

The cab stopped, and for a moment she panicked, but only for a moment. Taking a deep breath she opened the door and gracefully climbed her way out. Bright light's blinded her as she stepped onto the pavement. The ground shook with pulsing music and the laughter of hundreds of people could be heard.

The men and women in line were all looking their best and all seemed to be friends in one huge group. Maria hoped she wouldn't have to interrupt their pre-party. Self consciously she looked around trying to spot Cameron.

See... he didn't come. He doesn't care... Tears began to well up in Maria's eyes.

"Hey, Maria!" She turned into the direction of the shout to find Cameron waving her over. His blonde hair was gelled up in the front and he now adorned an earring along with his eyebrow piercing. But she couldn't help but notice that he wore nothing but jeans, sneakers, and a knee-length black trench coat.

"Do you own a shirt?" She laughed, as she joined him by the bouncer.

"Yes, but I hate them. I don't wear them unless I have to. Anyways, sorry to have you waiting, I was preparing and then I didn't even recognize you. You look absolutely ravishing."

Maria blushed, "Thank you."

"So now that I've found you, let's not keep waiting around." He tapped the bouncer on the shoulder and in one swoop of his arm unlinked the rope and let them pass.
"How did you do that? Shouldn't we have waited in line or something?"

"Well we could go back and wait if you want to, but I'd rather get on with it." Cameron took her hand and led her through the thick crowd of people smoothly until they came to a glass room that contained a smaller amount of people sitting on neon green couches with a private bartender. He led her to an empty loveseat and they sat down.
"Is this a V.I.P. room or something?" she asked.

"Pretty much. I'm working here as a D.J. for the summer so I get to use this room when I wish, but I haven't used it before today. It's nice isn't it?"

Maria nodded, looking around. The room was padded with multi-colored circles on the walls continuing to the floor. She bet that it was so bright, the room didn't even need light's.

"Do you want something to drink?" Cameron asked.

Maria looked down, "Oh, um... I don't drink."

Cameron smiled, "Thank God, I don't either. I was afraid you did and then I would have to! A coke then?"

She nodded, smiling brightly. With a swish of his coat he was gone and soon came back with two glasses in each hand.

"There, ya go!" he said handing her the frosty drink. Maria accepted and sipped it, at first a bit paranoid but that passed soon enough.

"So, if you're working here for the summer, what are you doing in the fall?"

He hesitated, "Well for the most part I'll be working at the music store down town, but the rest of the time I...uh..."

"Yeah?" His apprehension started to scare her.

"I - I'll be going around clinicing and teaching music to kids." He looked away embarrassed.

"R-really?" He nodded, fidgeting with his cup.

"That is amazing!" She cried, hardly containing her excitement.

He looked up, "It is?"

"Yes! I'm in education myself! I'm the headmaster of Daphlin Academy just outside of town."

"You're the headmaster? I heard that she was young but I would never have guessed --" He stopped. In the excitement they had continually gotten closer and he had accidentally touched her thigh. Like it was electric he snapped his hand away. "I'm sorry."

"It's alright, " she said, surprising herself, "Would you like to dance, Cameron Harris?"

He looked up, to see her standing in front of him smiling a curious little smile that he returned. "Yes, I bloody well would."

Maria did not know what had come over her. She never acted this way, she never led, she never took control. But as they danced together it seemed more like a ritual of shedding her skin, becoming another person born in a sea of light and music. She became so lost in Cameron's arms and in the beat that it took hours for her notice her feet beginning to hurt and her moves become lethargic. For just a moment she decided to close her eyes but when she opened them, she found that she was laying on a comfy green couch with her head resting on top of Cameron's thigh's.

"Are we alive?" he asked.

Maria squinted, "I'm not sure. Everything is swimming."

He laughed, "You gave everyone quite a fright. Why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling well?"

"I'm not feeling well? What happened?"

"You fell to the ground like a sack of bananas, that's what happened!"

Maria snapped her hands to her face, "Oh my God! I'm so sorry, I don't even know what happened!"

Cameron pulled her hands into his own, "It doesn't matter, too much excitement perhaps. I caught you before any real damage could happen, so no harm done. You just rest now."

She began to get up, "No, I'm alr--" she stopped then brought herself back down, "Thank you."

For a long time they stayed like that with Cameron gently stroking her long hair. To them it only seemed mere minutes until the party goers began to leave in droves and the music became deafingly silent.

"I think it's time for us to leave." Cameron said.

Maria growled in protest. "Come on, up ya go!" he said as he maneuvered her to her feet and carried her out the doors and into the cool night air.

"I feel like a princess." She giggled drowsily as he put her down in front of a waiting cab.

"I'm glad." He smiled digging his thumbs into his pockets.

Maria grinned and opened the cab door, "Are you coming with me?" She asked, eyeing his chest.

He smirked, "No, I don't think that'd be wise. Go home and rest, I'm sure we shall meet again."

Maria pouted. "Awe, don't do that, darling." Cameron stepped closer until he was an inch away from her body. Slowly he leaned down and caught her lips with his.

"Crikey." Maria mumbled.

"That's my line." Cameron grinned as he guided her into the cab and shut the door.

Maria rolled down the window, "Until next time, then?"

"Until next time." Cameron thumped the cab hood and watched Maria's cab disappear into the night. "There will definitely be a next time."

WOO!! There it is!!! I'm sorry it's so long but it could not be helped!
I worked about three days in total on this and was originally 7 pages turned into 5 when I typed it up :iconohmygodplz::iconimdeadplz:

But anyways this is my contestant for Maria Dacey's :iconYellow Skinnies: Bachelorette contest for her OC Maria since she doesn't end up getting her Ferbykins lol :XD:.
His name is Cameron Harris and is originally from Melbourne, Australia. He's a hot beach boy bad ass that also is very intellectual and sweet when he wishes to be. Career wise he works part time at The Neon and at the local Danville music store but also goes from school to school teaching music to kids. He can play every instrument but he excels at the guitar, vocals, trumpet, didgeridoo, and drums. His hobbies include music, surfing, rugby, cooking, writing, and reading. He also owns a black kitten named Joey in his apartment.
Also, contrary to many beliefs, he does actually wear a shirt, but only when visiting schools does he wear a button up shirt, jacket, and tie. Although there have been some high school girls who have convinced him to take it off!
:iconteheplz:

Cam's a pretty cool guy and I hope you'll like him.

ENJOY!

:EDIT!:
Since :iconyellowskinnies: changed accounts and changed her O.C.'s name from Maria Doofenshmirtz to Maria Dacey, I had to change up a few details to get it out of the Phineas and Ferb universe like changing Danville to Vancouver and the schools' name ect, ect.. all using information and suggestions from the author.
